My wife and I were sitting at home one day. Next thing we know cops were knocking on our door. We were hesitant to answer the door because we didn’t know that my 19-month-old son dialed 911. The cops walked into my house, even though I told them they couldn’t without a warrant. They said since 911 was called, they can enter and look to make sure no one was hurt. One of the officers went in my room and found roaches and a bowl not in plain sight – in a small ashtray underneath a stack of magazines. You wouldn't be able to see it unless you moved the magazines completely of the shelf. The court wants to give me a $750.00 dollar fine for the bowl and submit to drug testing, but they said they would drop the possession charge for the roaches. I think that was an illegal search and that evidence should be thrown out. Is that legal? Can they do that or is that illegal?

That sucks, man. I had my place searched illegally, but unless you're ready to pony up tons of bucks for lawyers, court fees, appeals, the ends do justify the means for these over-zealous cowboys. They know that it takes greater effort for you to fight it than you can afford in time, money, and reputation.
It's all about money, it has nothing to do with what's legal or not.
