First, you must connect with a dealer or a grower. Essentially, you would work for him
because you have to get your product from somewhere and for a good price. A supplier
would want to know you are trustworthy and knowledgeable. If it’s a quality product, it
will sell itself.
Usually, a grower starts his operation at a certain point. He wouldn't set up a 5,000-plant
operation, pulling 10 lbs. per batch at first. He might have started at 600 plants. No one
can state what path should be taken. The art of sales is developing repeat customers. This means you must understand their
buying habits – or, in this case, their smoking habits. Someone who buys a quarter ounce
of weed might get an ounce the next week. An ounce-a-week person can easily become a
10 lb. a week person in the long run.
It’s in no one’s best interest to sell 10 lbs. to someone you do not know as a first
transaction when that is all you produce. Ten pounds can be cut about 50k more or less,
depending on the region.
You also always want to make sure your weed is dried and cured. If the weed is dried and
cured, it can be written off as something gotten elsewhere. Anything less is essentially
formal notice that your source is nearby.
So, grab quarter bags from your supplier, and smoke it with your friends. The idea is to
get your friends to start grabbing off of you. For example, if they have no weed, offer
them $5 worth. Deal with people who you’ve known and trusted for years. Family
members might be okay to deal to only if you get along with them and they don’t gossip
to other family members who will turn you in to the police.
The more you buy from your supplier, the cheaper it is. Think of it like shopping at
wholesale store. If your friends want to sell and know people that would buy, then buy a
QP (quarter pound). Break it up into ounces, and sell those so you make a profit. Let your
friends sell their ounces, and make money.
If I don't have enough people close to you, then maybe selling pot is not right for you.
You will have to extend yourself into unknown social waters and run the risk of being
busted. That said, you can develop good friendships through regular, successful business
relationships over the years. True potheads are giving in nature.
Once you have your friends grabbing, it’s all word-of-mouth. They tell one guy who then
tells another who tells another… and it becomes about referrals. In other words, you want
to keep track of who knows you’re a dealer, so you can keep the kops away. If you build
a customer base outside your circle of friends, you’ll have all sorts of people calling you
at all hours of the day wanting to know whether you got bud.
The day you start dealing seriously outside your circle of friends, stop using your
personal cell phone to communicate with your customers. Never give out your home
number. Use disposable pre-paid cell phones instead. If someone calls you up out of the
blue looking for weed, and they can’t tell you the personal connection between you and
him, hang up and ditch the disposable phone.
Don’t be afraid to ask your friends, "Hey, is this dude cool?" or "How’d you know this
guy" or "Is he an undercover?" Sometimes the best way to dig out things is to straight up
ask. Don’t beat around the bush. Get straight yes or no answers. It’s better to do
background checks on people you don’t know than get busted. When you ditch a phone, you will want to call your original, most trusted clients to give
them your new number. If you keep your circle of contacts small, you run less risk of
getting busted as well as having to ditch your phone as much. The larger your circle, the
more frequently you will be ditching phones. If you sell directly on the street, then you
run an even greater risk of getting stopped by not only kops but also gangs and thugs.
If you want to make money, set your ground rules, make them known early and often,
and never deviate from them no matter what. Never allow your customers to run a tab.
Never cut corners. If your time is their money, give them their weed at your convenience.
If you want to deal in order to supply yourself with free smoke, then dealing for you is a
just side job. In the end, they are your rules.
If you value your anonymity and privacy, never deal at your house or apartment. It’s the
worst place to deal because if a customer comes to your house, buys weed, leaves and
gets pulled over, there’s a very good chance the kops will knock on your door later if they
find pot. Whether or not they are your friend, don’t chance your customer snitching on
you. Betrayals happen. Go to their house or apartment instead. -
