I sent this info out to some of my friends online, curious to see what they thought or had to say about it and I figured I would share it with my friends here!

This is just a little info for everyone. Just wanted to see if I could get anyone thinking.

Did you know....

The government, to date this year, has spent 34.2 billion dollars on the drug war. They have incarcerated almost 1.2 million people for drug offenses and almost half of those were for marijuana offenses.

(based on info from www.drugsense.com)

Did you also know....

The annual cost of college in 2007-08 for a public four year university was $6,185 a year or $24,740 for a bachelor's degree.

(info from www.collegeboard.com)

What does this mean?....

If the U.S. government were to reallocate these funds from the (failing) war on drugs and spend them on educating their citizens (us!!!), this could mean scholarships for an additional 1,382,376 students a year! According to the National Center for Education Statistics, (nces.ed.gov), about 3,303,000 high school students are expected to graduate in 2007-08. This could mean a full ride to college for almost 42 percent of graduating seniors!

I don't know if this means anything to anyone. This is the most independent research that I have done since getting out of school.
I saw the figure that the government was spending and, feeling slightly disgusted, thought "how could this be used better?" Any thoughts from anyone?

But does our government want us to be that educated? The less educated we are, the easier it is for them to take control over every aspect of our lives.
