| if the police show up and either raid the house or knock with a warrant can you film them performing the search? if so you can't film everything where would you think is the best place to film |

Or, you can do like me and have a few webcams (one modified for near-infrared)hooked up to your pc. Lots of free video and image capture utilities for handling multiple cameras. You can set them to record using motion detection, timed, or hot-key. The nice part, is you can instruct the software to upload to a remote site or email account.
by the time they yank the cords, you should have quite a bit recorded.
I use this in case someone breaks in. Even if they steal one of my computers, I got them at the door, outside in the dark, and in the house. Hidden.
