my buddy and his girlfriend in new york was driving down to florida via the infamous I-95 route just recently and of course got pulled over for "riding the white line on the shoulder." --hogwash. Well anyways my buddy said as the cop was getting out of the car he had a crazy idea and told his girlfriend to fire up the camcorder and record the event so she did after of course calling him crazy lol! so the cop comes up to the window and asks for license and registration and so he gives it to him. and then another cop comes to the passenger side dips down to peer through the window and sees the camcorder pointed right at him and damn jolts back! lol he said whats with the camcorder? my friend replied well we're filming our roadtrip and we're gonna put it on youtube sir and the officer just froze lol. then my friend asked him may I ask what we've been pulled over for sir? the officer quickly got to the point and said I saw you riding the white line I thought I'd just stop you and see if you were ok can I ask you to turn off the camcorder sir? to which my friend of course said no sir we havent interrupted the recording for quite some time and I dont intend to now... the officer took his license and insurance to the car did his lil thing gave it back to em and bid them a good night! lol btw
I thought this was great I am definitely gonna do this next time one of em come banging on my driver window i'll point that camcorder lens right up there nostrils! how do u like that! lol or just hook the car up with 4 embedded cameras... as long as you acknowledge that they are there i dont see it being a problem! priceless story |

I definitely agree with you. Cop's hate being recorded on video or tape, and this is an excellent tool for your defense if the LEO acts irresponsibly.

cool do you think you can record custom agents doing their search too? i mean i know everyone knows about the checkpoints,.. and sometimes certain cars get picked to be "randomly" searched and put to the side, do you think theyll trip on you if you record them doing their "thing"? for example i visit my cousin sometimes in mexico and travel there..and on the way back to us we have to pass the international immigration thing or the "garita" and sometimes certain cars get secondary inspection...and sometimes,... naw usually,... those dogs of custom agents are mean as hell (the agents themselves not their k9's)so if i record them searching my car while in secondary inspection,...banging and being an inch of tearing my car up even after the dog didnt find anything or even gave a sign that there was nothing there,...just walked around the car and stuff,...just kept walking....so is it legal to record them in the international garita or in the checkpoints in the us while im standing outside my car waiting?...even though i know itll make them act like assholes more, |

| I've thought about putting a hidden video camera on my front door. It could come handy if it comes down to your word against theirs in court. |

What these guys did was 100% legal. I know if they are a public officer then you can tape them all you want as long as you're not harassing them.
I watched a documentary about the truth surrounding 9/11. There were two dudes who walked cross country to D.C. with signs in hand concerning 9/11. They were unconstitutionally stopped by officers in every county while doing this, and more. Every single officer would come up to them and start asking for ID. They said to turn the camera off. Even to the point where they were told, "if you don't turn that thing off, you're going to jail!". But they knew they were just saying that to scare them. They said, "No sir! This is our constitutional right. Why would you ask for ID? We did nothing wrong!". Then one of the guys dresses in an orange jumpsuit and stands in where these guys would stand sometimes and he got stopped by a cop once. He asked what they were doing, they said, "We're protesting the christians view on the war"(meaning they were christians and didn't think other christians should support war). The cop laughed and said, "Oh I thought someone escaped from prison. You guys keep up the good work!". But when they were harmlessly walking around with signs about 9/11 along side the road, they get heckled constantly

I've always thought putting small mics in your mirrors on the driver and passenger side doors would be a decent idea as it would be out of the way, nearly impossible to see, and would be within about 2 feet of you and the officer right in the middle. Then I was told in Washington State (where I live) if you were to do this you must first notify the officer he is being recorded. Is this true? I've never heard of them notifying people that there is a dash cam on them. Then again cops are privileged like that.
By the way, great site and forum. This is the first time I've really gotten to look at it good and it seems like a good community. We owe Barry much! |
