This is a new developement I have heard of. Cable company knocks on door demanding entry to home (NARC'S OR SNITCHES???). They say wiring is bad causing internet & tv problems locally. This guy wouldn't let them in (wife sleeping). Told them to come back later. Meanwhile cut & burned entire crop in fireplace...wish I was outside that day Took down setup. Then let them come back. They found nothing wrong when they inspected. Seems that new digital ballasts can cause interference with your computer & TV cable connections. Alerting the cable company. It does keep your computer from working right (can't log on) and will mess up your TV sometimes. Best way to check this out is to try your internet connection & if you can't log on there is a problem, turn off lights and try again. If you can log on with lights off ...ballast are causing problems and expect a knock on your door, SOON!!! What ever you do DO NOT LET THEM IN YOUR HOME! Just tell them cable sucks and your getting DISH! This time another family is still free by quick thinking! Be Safe, PEACE & POT |

It appears that some digital ballasts can put out lots of RF and EM interference, especially the 1000w variety (10ft of interference, 600w can be a few feet to nothing.
Many people have no problems and will swear by them, but sometimes people notice interference with electronics.
Oftentimes the AM radio band will be affected, so you can check this with a radio.
These ballasts are supposed to have shielding to prevent this interference, but perhaps sometimes this shielding is faulty or some other fault causes raises in interference. Mods and extension cords could also be a possibility.
While the interference is not supposed to be large, there are people who claim to have had similar knocks on their door from the cable company with complaints of neighborhood wide signal interference (of course you do not have to let them in)..
This means they are not alone with their problem and that something with digital ballasts can go wrong. Again people will swear by them, but probably best to stay away.
It is possible for LEO to triangulate such a signal.
It is also possible that those people were LEO and just trying to gain access to the home using false pretexts, somehow knowing there was some kind of interference coming from the house (or it could have been legit cable people, who knows). Or perhaps they sold them the ballast, and knowing it can cause interference, later used that info to send narcs to the home trying to gain access. Perhaps they were doing a sweep and picked something odd up. Who knows.
Interesting nonetheless. |
