OK, my local electricity provider APS, has partnered with a third party software company for home analysis of your electricity consumption. It compares your usage with some "average" home.
Most of the data is provided by the customer. You give information on the types and quantities of appliances and household layout information. The software accesses your electricity usage information from APS.
Great,I use less electricity than average. But! One of the questions asking about my appliances had a very suspicious entry:
Miscellaneous Appliances (check all that you have)
Air Purifier
Aquarium
Auto Block Heater
Bottled Water Dispenser
Coffee Maker
Fax Machine
Copier
Electric Blanket
Grow Light
Heated Towel Bar
Instant Hot Water
Pipe and Gutter Heater
Kiln
Sauna
Steam Room
Compactor
Disposal
Wine Chiller
I swear it actually asks "grow light"! |

thats funny.
Check this out...http://www.utilityfree.com/solar/intertie.html
you could make your own electricity and when you are not using it you can get paid from your electric company by giving them the extra energy. |

Nice setup but the cost! How long is until you actually offset the cost of the energy saving device? Is it more than the ownership expectancy, or life expectancy, of the home? Thats the bad thing about our capitalist economy. Any future savings or benefit derived from this is often added to the purchase price!
Some electric cars have come under fire for this reason. |

did they have a place marked other for you to write in that your house is sometimes used by space aliens as a port for them to recharge their batteries in order to make the time warp home 600 millennial miles away..thats what i would of wrote
i wouldnt answer those questions,,id just tell them its none of their business what i do with my kilowatts,,,if i want to put them in a bong and smoke them its just none of their damn business.
however im afraid all of this would be translated as a grow operation |

Yea, I'm quite sure if your house rates high on energy usage, someone reviews the info. I wonder what would happen if i lied about the questions so that I answered that there were no appliances in the house, except fans and AC. Oh yeah and put a check the grow light box!
Helicopters probably would fly over with IR! |

Im pretty sure its a bait question...unless you are hardcore into indoor tomato growing and have absolutely nothing to hide when you check that box.
And the electrical usage can vary greatly depending on location. In the 24 hour Texas heat with Texas sized homes it is not uncommon having bills around 1000 per month. So that two to three hundred dollar difference will never raise a red flag. I would really like to find out true statistic on how many people get busted due to electrical usage audit....i cannot imagine people getting busted on it these days. There are exceptions though...there was a story on an upscale home that was converted into a grow factory with over 10,000 plants. The electrical audit was forced when they were pulling 12,000 dollar monthly bills. |

The electrical audit was forced when they were pulling 12,000 dollar monthly bills. | I got a electric bill by mistake from my next door neighbor. It was 10x less than mine. But they don't use AC, no computer, don't watch TV, go to bed @ dark, ect...I run several internet businesses out of my home, have several big screen HD TV's (1250 watts), computer on 24/7, use portable electric heater (1500 watts) in winter, have heated garage, electric stove & dryer, cook alot, only sleep about 5-6 hours a day so lights, tv, computer on most of the time. Had a water slide blower going on weekends for the grandkids (1850 watts). Use hepa filter in home as we smoke in our house. I work outside so when home like the AC on cold, so it runs all the warm months most of the time. So some people use more than others. So yes we will always use more juice, and yes we will always disapate more heat than our poeple next door. It's none of their business as I pay my bills! I am remodeling so I use power tools. What about all the people that have great big fish tanks and use pumps, filters, lights, 24/7? It's just a sorry excuse for a FLIR SEARCH. From my research since the raid, I have found they will stop at nothing to bust growers! Read about Washington State offering $5,000 reward to snitch on growers @ www.potbust.com has lots of tips! Working to remain free. |
