Does anyone have any ideas on how i could possibly dry my plants without anyone in my house knowing.

there is three other people here and they cannot know about it.

is there any way i can dry them out in a big box or something? and open and air out the box every day.

or do i have to do it in an open room for it to be done properly?
they should be done by mid october, any help is appreciated.

Good luck man! I heard drying out bud is the smelliest part of the whole operation. If you can't do it at your place, ask a friend. It would suck to see them go to waste just because you couldn't find a place to dry them.

Buy them tickets for a cruise for a week Smile

I would defiantly ask a friend

And whatever you use to dry them has to be air tight or they will not dry good from what Ive read

I think he might mean the container you use to cure the buds. I know that has to be air tight.

Joe this is your cue to jump in. You know a lot more about this stuff than I do.

The container. So it will allow the moisture to redistribute without getting to dry before it redistributes.

You want an air tight container and a dark place to store it. Sunshine and light will do more harm than good.

For like 1-2 days you leave the buds in an open space Most people will hang the whole plants upside down. After that you place them in Jars or something air tight Seal it for 24 hours then leave it open for some many hours and so on and so forth for 5 days.

Endless threads elsewhere (everywhere) about drying...preferences, curing......etc...

Overview is you have dry, and cure (and trim....)

Some choose to trim wet, (easier, quicker), but superior product when clipped after dry (takes little longer, slightly more difficult...)

Dry your looking at anywhere from 4-7 days more or less (depending on how much, how large, how dense, etc)....

Space is less important than circulation, and then temps of spot or place done.....

If talking a smaller amount, it's possible to do it in a space as above (closet, closed, with fan, etc....)

Outdoor hang is also superior, but, new people/first runs seem to have a little difficulty with it (unquestionably superior product)....

Out hang you'll lose majority of small and weight and mass....(Could also do a combination, with initially out, then bring it in if new and uncomfortable with process.....)

Outdoor hang seems to be somewhat of a controversial subject...(despite being chosen method of almost every larger outdoor op for last 30 years in any location wink laughing

I assume your talking smaller amounts, so, that would rule out a lot of other alternatives..(short term rentals and such for dry and trim....)

Outdoor hang your looking for spot with good circulation, out of sun,(in trees, many different ways), but of the greatest importance is to screen it (pick through to make sure no mold...any outdoor grower knows how fast mold can completely destroy something....between onset and total loss can sometimes be as little as 24hrs, so......always very important to make sure your looking through (in tops, larger colas, your talking peeling them all back individually and taking a loot....which is where it is the biggest problem..(ie: lot of people take a look, looks fine, assume everything good, until you peel it back and see inside is a mess.....)

As above, could be a combination (screen, cut, hang....1....2....3 days then cut up smaller and move inside...

Note: Cutting everything off.....sure better if entire plant...but, if a reason why that isn't ideal, well, feel free to trim away what you need (which already cuts your load in half in some cases.....)

Drying though in general your looking at circulation and temps..(screening very important though whether in or out.....which becomes more important especially when your bagging up......ie: If you don't screen it, then your throwing contaminated in with the good....which then leads to contaminating the whole load....

Note: When hanging anything, indoor or out, space it well.....ie: Don't tie up several plants and hang together...you'll have airflow and possible mold issues...(no circulation inside the bundle....)

Try and control it and go with the out hang and you'll be impressed........superior product....big time...

Even couple days, as above will reduce all the above (smell, weight, bulk, water loss, etc...your looking at about an 85% more or less moisture loss, so.........ie: For every 1000 grams of fresh, maybe 150 dried and cured....ie: 85% loss...varies with density and such, but, you will find everything will fall into that figure (maybe some 81%..maybe some 91%...85% though good figure to use for any estimates....)

Dry should be until appears dry (it is not wink......then into closed container (jars if ps..couple p's, etc....)...burp (open and air ) daily.......12 days is about a minimal cure....(note: lot of people have problem with this.....they close up before dry enough....it will simply moisten back up again...and, need to be dumped out and aired/dried ma little more (ie: dump out and dry for a day...next day try again...etc....)

Dry till exterior dry (stem basically snaps...)...it will mosisten back up when jarred again....

If a lot? wink.....can be bagged of course...but, again, want to make sure dry....

Lot of variations to the above (endless...) except the out hang....volume, some use cardboard boxes when dry.....and air for a couple days (which is a nice product also) (If packed into boxes, will moisten up again also...same drill, open and air if your a little off.....couple days (till dry) then bagged, etc......

Proper dry makes a lot of difference...throw a proper cure on it and makes even more of a difference.....quality grows by the week.....1-2-3 month cure if proper dry some pretty astounding product....

Key though is always how dry before sealing up.....you seal up wet, don't air and also could be looking at mold issues.....

Note: Obviously......question in itself signifies a new grower...first round, soooo.......wink With that said:

1. Keep an eye on it depending on where you are (for mold, near finishing....)

2. Let it finish....cutting early is a worse case scenario only done in an emergency........please don't do it..(for new growers, the rough rule of thumb is if your not sure if it's done?, let it go another week wink

smile

(You don't waste an entire season out or round in to cut it early when your last week or two have the most significant impact....

Let it go......be patient...you'll be glad you did smile
