How long does a cannabis plant have to grow till it begins producing THC? I once grew some plants for about 2 weeks (1/4 ft) and promptly ate them out of paranoia of getting caught. I didn't catch a buzz at all, though this is probably because directly eating cannabis doesn't work without transferring the THC to a fat before consumption.

I would say it produces large amounts of Cannabinoids (THC, CBD) When it is flowering. When the plant is growing still it probably has minimal amounts of THC.
Eating Cannabis does work to get a buzz. A good friend use to do it because he couldnt smoke in the house so he broke up about a bowl of bud and ate it. And i also think some board members have talked about eating it on crackers with peanut butter. |

You have to decarboxylate THC to make it psychoactive. THC in the plant comes as THCA (aka THC Acid), having an extra COOH group attached. I do not know if stomach acid or the digestive process alone will decarboxylate THC (ie. you can eat the whole, flowering plant and get high without extraction).
It is my assumption that combining THC with a solvent like oil/butter/chloroform will decarboxylate it, which is why that works.. I'm pretty sure I've read that, I want to find the reference now... Hmmmm decaboxylation mechanisms for cannabis... |
