There must be a reason why the government is so down on weed, but why! Contribution's from Alcohol Company's? Tobacco Company's? Power trip? I just don't get it, why the waste of so much time and money?

The bigger question is why the hell does the government hold around 1,000 patents on the benefits of the cannabis plant and say it has no medical value.......

I just watched a documentary called "The History of Marijuna" narrated by Woody Harrelson and it explained why it is illegal and will probably continue to be for quite a while, at least on the federal level. In my opinion, the only hope we have for some relief is if Barack Obama is elected President and he picks someone like Bill Richardson or Dennis Kucinich as his Vice President, both of whom have spoken out in favor of decriminalization or rescheduling of cannabis on a federal level. Barney Frank from Mass (I think) has introduced legislation at the federal level for some relief also, but the chances of getting that even out of committee is not hopeful.

I don't see any reason yet for the feds to stop this war on us. They have no reason to and basically have been given a blank check and plenty of authority to continue. Until the masses put an end to it, this is where we will be for many many years, I fear. Until the major players in the War ban together and pull their resources to unite in one area, this is where we will remain.

The problem, as I see it, is that every major prohibition group is taking a different approach and there is not one avenue that everyone can follow. Some goups are working with politicians, some with law enforcement, some with the medical field but until they all pull together and literally bring this country to it's knees, we will not win this war. Of course, neither will the DEA. It will remain a stand-off for many years with both sides claiming any small victory as progress. I am still a firm believer that jury-nullification is a great approach and can be discussed with a cross segment of our society without fear of repercution. But for that to happen, NORML, MPP, LEAP and all the other major players would have to agree to put their recources together, develope a plan that allows for the common person to participate and then "just do it!" After all, it is a proven theory that worked many years ago with alcohol. Why reinvent the wheel when you don't have to. Yes, jury nullification is difficult right now, BUT, it is probably the easiest way (beside protesting) for the average citizen to become involved.

The average citizen has a difficult time having this discussion with their elected officials, their law enforcement officers or their medical caregivers, but having this discussion with another citizen is much easier and I believe more effective. Every courthouse in America could have a person or persons available to hand out literature educating every person walking into the court house on jury nullification. If prohibitionists are correct in their numbers of people who are opposed to prison for pot, jury nullification is the only way to go. NORML's Keith Stroup is certainly banking on jury nullification when he goes to court for smoking in public in Boston.

Just my little rant for the day !

All the groups pushing legalization will probably not join together. Hopefully one movement will get big enough to actually do some good.

As of right now Barry is getting much more media attention than any of the other organizations.
