First off, I know I already posted this in the general topics area, but now that there is a specific place for this, I felt I should repost to acquire adequate information easier, and in a proper place. 
Is cigarette smoke bad for MJ plants? I heard somewhere that is was very harmful, but am unsure. Do any of you know what harm it could cause, if any? I need to know so I can determine whether to stop all tobacco smokage in the conjoined room. Thanks. |

Toxins in any form are likely to be absorbed in one form or another.
A friend of mine pipes in fresh outdoor air through a small climate control system for his grow room. He grows for 4 patients, and has a very elaborate setup.
Will try to find out the components.
In the meantime does anyone know of any affordable climate control setups? Perhaps just a good air purifier in the grow room itself would work. |

| I have heard from old hippies that cigarette smoke can actually promote growth because of the monoxide. If you throw a banana in with your plant while it is budding usually it turns purple. it would be the same with the smoke i would say. but to many toxins from the carcinogenic properties of the smoke would definatley inhibit trichomes growth because of the poison layer laying on the leaves. Just my thoughts yo. |

I have seen it happen i dont know if it was a temperature change or something of the sort either. But it's like ripening bananas. If you put green bananas in a bag with an apple in one day they are ready to eat. I had seen a well known hippie throw bananas in with his commercial weed. It was still commercial weed but it did look awful pretty. |

I'm going to make a new thread for bananas if I must. Bananas help feminize your seeds before germination because rotting bananas release ethylene gas which can increase the induction of femaleness in flowers. So your more likely to get a few more female plants if you get a rotting banana in a paper bag and let it sit with your seeds for 2-3 days before you plan on germinating them. This wont make your bud turn purple in the long run. This is a good feminizing method I think. Its a natural and organic way to increase the chance of getting females.
If you want purple marijuana you have to get a some quality seeds that happen to have the recessive gene for purple phenotype. |

It's not Carbon Monoxide......
It's Carbon Dioxide...and they are opposite ends of the spectrum....
Many people will have a smoke while working in room(s)....
The banana issue might be confused with either able (ethylene to promote higher rations of fems) or a confusion regarding bananas being high in Potassium, and, certain deficiencies creating certain colors..(P deficiency is red/purplish, etc).....
Purple is genetics and finishing temps...either or both depending on individuals (plants)...... |

| makes sense. maybe it was just good bud. hell I don't really know. I have never grown anything but flowers in the greenhouse at school one year. I did see some cool things along the way. |

Well, not feminize per se......
Will increase M/F ratio's....not necessarily by 100% across the board......but will increase M/F ratio's... |
