I wonder if it has occured to anyone that if the noah's ark story is true. Then god is worse than hitler.

If Noah is true, then as a Christian if it did not happen then I would not be here. i believe the wrong would have taken over, then it would be a matter of time until god would have to start from scratch... speaking of start from scratch.. The Game's-start from scratch song is good. yeah I know random huh my bad.. but to keep on with it, i firmly believe that someone trying to tell me that i evolved from a monkey or a molecule is irrational and kinda stupid. I don't wanna die in the belief that i started from mucus on a rock or something. Give me the belief in God cause just in case some shit is still going on in our minds when we die. then i at least would like to think something is there.

Ok, so you believe that it's justified to kill everyone and everything in the world except a select few to carry on the gene pool. Now I know where the good christians stand on this issue.

What if I told you it doesn't matter what you believe in, when you die you rot in the ground. There are no such thing as souls, simply a series of connections in your brain to create what we call consciousness. Well, science has pretty much proven this, so continue to live in delusion if you so please.

I just want to chime in about a few things.

I will not get into the historicity of jesus, but concerning the john the baptist issue, I will state that one thing you will see in the new testament is that the writers reiterate that jesus is the messiah (not john). At the time john the baptist had many followers and was also believed by many to be the messiah (among many other 'prophets' of the time). Much of the issue regarding jesus's baptismal stems from theological discussion about original sin and whether jesus had it.
But meh, who cares.

The other issue I wanted to touch on was the noah's flood mythology. Indeed this mythology (as are many other stories within the bible) are based off of other, older myths from other cultures. In this instance, the bible's flood myth is based off of the Sumerian Epic of Gilgamesh. I would like to note also that flood myths are a common theme in most any culture and their religious writings (which is actually an odd mystery in the context of history - why would native americans have flood myths that are similar to the Epic of Gilgamesh and other flood mythology.)

The third issue of cannabis use by hebrews and its mention in the bible is such; we know for a fact that ancient hebrews (and nearly everyone else) used cannabis for a variety of things. Direct evidence points to medicinal use, but we know oils and fabrics could also have been made using cannabis (along with other natural items). Whether the bible directly mentions cannabis is up to a some debate, as linguists fight over the specific translation of words. The wikipedia entry on cannabis etymology has some very good facts regarding the issue (indeed it has seemingly been updated recently with more good information on the subject):

My only last point will touch on the issue of consciousness. What happens to consciousness when brain death occurs is up to debate, as scientists still do not really know what consciousness is, how it works, and where it really stems from. Our knowledge about the human brain is very very limited still, and there is no scientific consensus on what entirely happens to consciousness when we die. Just because a person is an atheist or has no formal religious belief or theological structure says nothing about what that person may think happens when one dies or what actually does happen when anything dies.

[quote="FZRaven" have you seen the movie The Man From Earth? It's an independent film, and I'm not going to give it all away but it has something to do with this.[/quote]
I just finished watching this movie. I see the relevance:cool: All I can say is, if you are Religious person and consider yourself open minded, watch this. being evil
If you are a philosopher or just consider yourself an enlightened being, by all means enjoy the mind candy this film offers. Two thumbs up for psychological drama!
