As a legally ordained minister, I know that it is very possible to use religion to your advantage. Cannabis has played a HUGE role in religion over time, it is even mentioned in the Bible. I was wondering why we can't just start a large non-denominational church for all the pot smokers to join and, if we ever get caught, we will be able to fight it.
BTW, in the past similar ideas have failed, however, I think if said church was large enough it may be more plausible.
It could work considering that the (N.A.)Indians did the same thing with Peyote and another did the same with Ayahuasca. |

No big money or jobs to be had chasing those drugs. Entheogens are used by far less people than pot. Pot is pervasive and therefore an easy target.
A church like that would get raided or busted long before it gained enough power to influence conviction rates. Unless it stayed clean which defeats the purpose. It would be nearly impossible to keep snitches and undercovers out. It would be viewed by the mainstream as a cult simply because of the title "church".
Personally I would go to that church if it came to be and I'm agnostic! |

i would have to say it would not work in the USA. but CANTHEISM is real. many of the worlds great religions have used cannabis sacramentlly and ceremonially, including these religions today, 'Animism'- Egyptians, - Hinduism,- Pygmy,- Rastafari,- Scythianism,- Shamanism,- Sufi Moslems,-Zoroastrainism. thats enough.

This all depends on your "understanding" of the bible. I know that the religious people that I have had a decent conversation with, have all said that the verses that the Cannabis churches claim refer to MJ do not.
Of course this is the problem with the bible, everything has to be interpreted for the most part. So this leaves us with many people with different interpretations.
I'm current involved in a discussion with a 7th day Adventist about Matthew 21:1-7 and Zechariah 9:9.
I'm not saying the folks who practice Cantheism are wrong, or that the people that do not practice it are wrong. What I am saying is that due to the ambiguity in the bible a lot is left up to interpretation.

Ya they just got back to me, I'm not real pleased with the answer. I don't think they really studied the verse, as there explanation is that it's a translation error. The animals are mentioned not in one, or two, verses but three. Yet Mark (11:2-6), Luke (19:30) and John (12:15) get it all correct, they all state that it is one animal. |

"Translation Error" !!
"Jehovah's Witnesses" claimed such authority of translation and now have their very own Bible "correctly translated".
