One of the keys to telling if a driver of a car is law enforcement is by looking at the position of the thumb on the steering wheel. Most people will drive with their thumb on the inside of the wheel. If it is law enforcement the thumb will be on the outside of the steering wheel. This is basic academy training for the simple fact that, if an officer had his thumb on the inside and the cars airbag deployed it could fracture his or her hand which is a bad place to be if the officer had to draw his weapon after an accident. Very easy to spot

That is a very interesting observation, sniper. Too bad most undercovers around here ride around with tinted windows. I have known people busted by undercover sitting in an unmarked car with tint so dark you cannot see if anyone is inside (which is illegal here.) I like how the cops break the law so they can bust someone breaking the law, just swell. disgusted

Dark tint or not wearing a seatbelt etc. by a cop on duty is not breaking the law because most states have clauses in the laws that allow exemptions for police vehicles.

My personal experiences have shown me that there are no hard written rules. I've met LEO's that were more criminal than most people they put in jail. Ive encountered others that you would have to assault to get into jail. The personal psychology of the LEO is I think the most important factor on whether or not you get busted.
Myself, I am attempting to build a "profile" if you will of those types of LEO that would be most inclined to violate rights or bust a pot head cause he didnt end up having the career making haul.
I want to be able to immediately recognize the type of officer I am dealing with and act and react in the most appropriate manner accordingly. For example:
Everyone has heard of the ego-tripping, power-hungry, jack-booted officer. Sorry, I know its stereotypical but does happen. Bad Apples and all. How do you deal with the officer who is looking trouble?

wow, look at that, a stereotype.
If I used stereotypes to locate drug offenders I would miss more than half of the loads out there.
so easy to throw that sterotype out there huh.
Instead why not judge every person on their own merits or lack their of.
Thats the best way to find dope and deal with people in general.

It aint rocket science!!!

Don't you though? Do you happen to display attitudes and or behaviors that one could call stereotypical and take offense? I apologize if so. I don't know every officer out there and am forced to speak in generalities unless experience and knowledge otherwise dictate. Same as you.

Stereotype:

n.

1. A conventional, formulaic, and oversimplified conception, opinion, or image.
2. One that is regarded as embodying or conforming to a set image or type.

Anti-drug programs use very degrating stereo types of "Pot heads" There are tons of people that have smoked or do smoke that have Ph.D's or very good jobs.

Very true. I know quite a few. big grin
The uninformed often think Cannabis dulls the senses and mind. Stupid people on pot are just more apparently so.
