| I'm not too sure how many vehicles are set up like this, but in certain models there are air vents on the lower part of the dash. Under the radio and/or ac/heat controls or whatever you have there. I'm sure you have a general idea of the area I'm speaking of. Anyway, with my vehicle I can remove the face of them at will with no sign of removal. Considering they are at the bottom and not at the top of the dash the vent goes upward. Where at the top they go downward disabling you to stash anything there. If you have 'em there is actually alot of space in there. |

| You don't wnat to use any part of a ventilation system to stash. It only curculates and propogates the smell throughout the vehicle. Places without air circulation are much better. Plus if you watched the vid, dogs smell things easier closer to the ground. Higher the better, the less scent can move around the better. |

| Also, I have had K9 officers tell me that if at all possible I should make sure the car is running, A/C on, a doors closed before the dog sniffs. Supposedly the doors remaining closed allows any odor to build up and the A/C being on sort of "forces" air from inside the car out the door seams etc., which makes it easier for the dog to catch whiff. I have never been a K9 officer so I don't know how true all that is, but it is what I have been told. |

Makes sense. This would only be true though if the AC was set to "vent" or "fresh" for bringing outside air in. This would indeed force a small amount of air out. |

| As a K9 officer i can tell you the premo spot to help my K9 is a air vent. This would cause the odor to continually curculate in the vehicle and be forced out by the a/c system when on. even if a/c is off the air being forced in while driving comes into the vehicle through a/c vents. unless the a/c is on recirc there is a constant forced flow of air comming from the outside of vehicle being forced into the vehicle thru vents. |

*Note to self...
When being pulled over while carrying, DONT turn the AC or Heat on!
I just thought of something! What if LEO's find out that we know this! Crap! People are going to be profiled because of their climate control settings!
This is like watching biological mechanisms formed by predator and prey dynamics.
The prey is aware it is prey now. It is forming defenses. The predator will counter, it is the way of things... |

| You know that is so true! and I was just thinking the same thing. I can see them having Barry's tapes in their training programs "new things to look for they think we don't know", and then they look at this forum and start searching up high in the vehicle and stuff...umm imagine..lol kinda sux but I think it might happen |
