As Barry has explained already in his dvd, no container is really air-tight. You've probably heard that oft-quoted fact that our bodies are more empty space (taken up by spaces between our individual atoms) than solid matter. As a result, there is always diffusion of molecules and a dog will always "eventually" be able to detect an odor.

The problem of diffusion reminded me of an old discovery channel special I saw on "absolute zero". "absolute zero" is the coldest temperature physically possible, when atoms (which normally move around and jiggle like crazy) come to a complete stop. The colder something gets, the less the atoms move. I asked a physicist if you could determine the optimal temperature to prevent diffusion, he referred me to Fick's law and an equation for determining the diffusion coefficient based on temperature. I could look into all of this but I am fairly poor at math and I have a lot of other work to attend to, so I would be a bad candidate.

If someone with a little knowledge of math or physics could (theoretically) find the diffusion coefficient for a material (like the plastic used in plastic bags or something) and then plug that in to the temperature equation we could possibly derive a temperature at which no odor would diffuse out of the bag.

SOMETHING ELSE

I heard that particles will always diffuse from a higher concentration to a lower concentration, so why not place an empty container in the container containing your "stash" and then surround that container with something very high-density, like whetted cotton, then wouldn't the smell just naturally diffuse into the empty container as opposed to the thick wet cotton?

These ideas are useless without input from others, so please speak your mind.

Some materials are more porous than others.

Your typical thin plastic sandwich bag that most pot dealers are fond of using due to low price and ease of availability are the worst.

On notch up are the polyetheline bags with the zip lock seals.

Better is Saran wrap or its generic knock-off.

Better still is mylar. If you are serious, purchase one of those rigs that you can do your own mylar bagging. Make it look like some sort of brand of fancy, organic potato chip. Since it is unopened in a tamper evident seal and in a box with lots of other bags and candy bars and what-not because you are supplying the goodies for the team for your son's soccer game, and you have Bush/Cheney 04 bumper stickers on your car and there is no pot smell, there is no search.

Mainly, any attempt to eliminate odor is self sabotaged if you fail to use disposable gloves when handling weed for bagging and/or fail to dispose of the gloves. You contaminate the outside of the bag.

Avanti condoms, the poly eurethane ones, will do in a pinch to conceal odor. Always follow procedure using gloves and setting up clean areas.

A welding rig can be had at home depot or lowes for a few hundred bucks. You can hermetically seal anything in either an aluminum or steel box via weld or solder.
