| Just ordered your DVD set. Any thoughts on undercovers or informants? This one guy swore up and down that undercovers have to tell you they are police, I think this may be just a big misconception. I see people try this question on cops alot on TV right before they get busted. |

One of the most dangerous wives tales to citizens says: An undercover cop must tell you s/he is a cop if asked. THIS IS A LIE!!! Even when asked, undercover cops will NEVER tell a person they are law enforcement.
There is no law or policy stating a cop must reveal who they are!!! All the covert training classes teache officers to never reveal their identity.
I don't know where that bad information got started. While working undercover, I have had several suspects ask me if I was undercover. The suspects would even announce I must tell them if I were a cop. Of course I never revealed my undercover status. I lied and they got busted.

Some advise on this issue is to stay away from people you don't know who come up to you and ask you if you have anything. No matter how poor or dirty or cool or friendly they look, this is a big mistake waiting to happen a lot of the time.
If you ever find yourself being pulled over for weird reasons it may be undercover fishing. If you or any of your friends get pulled over for "waiving a gun" or anything simular, this means things are heated and to watch out.
Edit: Undercover police WILL lie in order to search your car. How hard do you think it is for them to give one of their informants some cash under the table to say you waved a gun at them? Their identity will never be revealed either. |

Here is one for you , 14+ years ago in my area The FEDS (FBI) Went under cover to bust Mob controlled prostituton and Gambling run businesess .
An under cover agent moved into town our Neighborhood here in Chicago area I wont specify what towns . He started hanging out at the local coffee shops , going to the local bars / strip clubs etc,Getting to know those in the know in the neighborhood .
This was over the course of 4 years , Finally he got a job as a Bouncer at a local whore house / strip club , Where he had started to date the bartender
P.S The moral of the story is they took there time to Infiltrate and build a major case against the outfit ,in this particular case To get there man . The FEDS are slick , Sneaky, and veryyy patient. |

| Funny in my town a guy came in claiming to be an Italian Chicago mobster. People fell for it hook line and sinker. A bunch of police officers were busted. One for driving what he thought was drugs to Chicago. |

Here is a tip: Anyone who goes around boasting that he is a Mobster , Is not one Trust me on that one
Those who are connected , Often are those you would least expect , And for those who are connected , will not go around bragging about it . |

experience passed on...
Don't meet people at your residence. Meet in parking lots. If suspicious about person, once person hops in car drive to new location carefully watching for people who follow. You can also buy RF detectors in variety of formats, mine is coupled with a working pen, these will detect and wireless transmission such as wireless wires and wireless video transmitters. You can also buy scramblers which will silently emit white noise/static and interfer with any eavesdropping especially parabollic mics. If you suspect someone it's easy to do a public records search at the local courthouse and see if the person in question got in trouble recently. Shit sometimes you get lucky and somebody has snitched before and been a witness in court you can get those docs too even make copies to give to friends.
I havent subscribed to this site was wondering if anyone has..http://www.whosarat.com/ always been curious about it, Barry do you know anything bout it, like is it a trap or ligit? |

I think the whosarat.com is legit. I don't see a way a person can be in legal trouble by accessing this information. Working narcotics undercover is not classified information.
You seem to be very well educated on these topics. Thanks for your advice in the above post and I endorse your recommendations!!!
