This just makes me sad for our cause.
I had real hope for Obama.

Like The War On Some Drugs? Thank Dems’ VP Pick Senator Joe Biden!

Obama selecting Biden is a punch to the gut. Like that sickening feeling you got as a high school freshman, walking up the steps to the big party—and you’re telling yourself, if I fuck this up, my dreams are shot. But if things go well, this could be an excellent four years.

I am anything but a single-issue voter, but I’m also a die-hard zealot against the drug war. Everything that could have gone wrong has been an unbridled catastrophe: Drug epidemics and cartel routes breeze across the continent, privacy laws are gutted for sport, kids try drugs younger and younger, our prisons are stuffed with young black men…

And it’s Joe Biden’s fault. As former chairman for the Senate Judiciary Committee, Biden is the person most responsible for passing a package of laws in the mid-80s that we think of as today’s drug war. Biden presided over the mandatory-minimum sentencing guidelines that required judges to sentence dealers’ girlfriends and small-time peddlers to decades-long terms in state and federal prisons, where thousands are rotting to this day.

He used hearings “to mislead his colleagues and the public… on drug policy where police, prosecutors and DEA officials got the opportunity [to speak] while opponents were kept out,” says Kevin Zeese, a former director of Common Sense for Drug Policy and a leading drug-law reformer in Washington, D.C. since the 1980s. “Pick a drug law you don’t like from the last 25 years and thank Senator Biden.”

They saw Obama at the Bohemian Grove recently. Alex Jones says that he thinks Obama will be the new president just because he attended. George Bush was first seen their right before he was elected president. I could see this years election sucking really bad.

If you don't know what the Bohemian Grove is, search it on video.google.com.

Yet more reason why I don't see Dem or Rep as giving a rats ass about potsmokers.
It's all so fucking Machiavellian it makes me sick.

I've constantly told people Obama is full of shit about that. He just said stuff to get votes, as all other politicians do.

Everyone has always told me "No obama is gonna change stuff".... Bullshit.

I really wish that there is a politician that gave a shit about us. Just a single person that stood up in congress and told the truth.

I don't think that will ever happen. Unless Jesse Ventura runs like he said he might.

Just like Brute said, Ron Paul. And it is not even because of his antiprohibition stance. He is the only one who realizes what the true problems are and speaks the truth. He is one politician who talks like he is more interested in bettering his country than bettering himself.

Well, in this Two party system we have, unless he gets a huge following(which he should!) it would be almost imposable to get him in the white house.

I feel very torn with Ron Paul. He has so many good views, but there are a couple things I dont like, but I guess you have to take the good with the bad.

Like no gun control! gulp!

The ability to arm ourselves in defense of our Government is guaranteed by the Constitution and absolutely necessary.
However, the corrosion of our other Natural Rights has allowed a Police State to arise anyway.
Do some research into the Federal Gun and Weapon Laws. Nearly EVERY gun owner unknowingly violates numerous Federal weapons Statutes. They are not enforced though. Yet?
I went to prison for a gun. I didnt get it legally either. No gun control law has ever stopped anyone I ever met from getting a gun. I may not be able to get one at Walmart, but I can get one If I wanted.
I researched the Laws while imprisoned. It amazed me the number of redundant laws from the criminal to the tax code that you could be charged under.
Bottom line is that gun control Laws only infringe a legal purchasers Right with Bureaucratic red-tape and Education efforts are not directed at informing citizens that it is their Given Right to Bear Arms whether they choose to exercise it or not.
You can't pick and choose which rights are valid based on personal preference to exercise or not said Rights.
Gun Control is the Same as the Drug War. It is prohibition.

yeah, that is one side.

I'll just agree to disagree.

I am not saying NO guns! I just feel that the UK has it right there (if only there) you can not get a hand gun legally and all gun sales are looked after quite alot.

I know that people if they REALLY want a gun will get it illegally, but at least this makes it one step harder for little Billy Brown to go and blow his classmates away or some crack addict shotting someone for the three dollars they have in their wallet.

I just feel that the second amendment, while very important to history and the time of the militia, needs to be revamped in todays violent society.

That's just my take!

!!No offenses socrateez!!

"Gun Control is the Same as the Drug War. It is prohibition."

I disagree with this, if someone decides to take Heroin, then they only hurt themselves.

While I agree that rational people should be able to get a gun for hunting/recreation, but at the same time it should be a little harder to get a weapon that they can kill other people.

As opposed to drugs where if you do hard drugs, you hurt yourself and maybe your family and friends by association.
But with a gun, you can KILL you fellow man.

This is just the hippie in me talking Razz

Once again, no offense!
Just one crazy liberals opinion.

Your opinion and views are just as valid as mine or anyone elses. Smile No need to apologize for them ever.
I don't get angered unless my intelligence is insulted. I love to debate though. big grin Care to continue these lines of thought?

Under the Constitution, Felons Right to bear arms is limited. This is a form of "Control" thought necessary by our Founders. I feel their thinking was similar to Barry's view on Drug Prohibition.
If someone shoots someone, put em in jail for it. Don't limit everyones access to guns for it. We have laws to deal with Crime. We don't need laws to punish our Rights.
Those children who find guns and shoot people arent lifting them from crack dealers. The majority find them legal and loaded in Mommy and Daddy's nightstand and closet. Alcohol is a bigger killer than accidental discharges or murders by guns. And there are a lot of guns in the US!
Would a significant number of people be saved and our security garnered by controlling guns? UK and Australia still have murders, still have violent crimes, the weapons just arent as efficient. They are no less secure from domestic or foreign threats either. They are definitely less secure against the potential threat of tyranny or oppression from corrupt governmental systems.
Our founders never could have envisioned a day like we live in. The technological leaps are tremendous. They did have enough insight into the human condition to know that whatever the future was like, the potential for abuse of power would ALWAYS be present. Thats why they took the time to write it all down.
Honestly, what is gained in the big picture for controlling guns?
By revamped I assume you mean a sort of regulation of guns?

I'm going to switch gears for a second here. I am for the founders intended form of regulation. That being if you commit a crime involving a gun, removal of that offenders right to own guns should be suspended. But why should a embezzler lose their Right when the crime had no logical connection to that persons Right to own a gun? To be fair, most States suspend rights for a limited period of time or have machinery to reinstate them. The Federal level is a different story of course, and that is what should be noted. Just like medical marijuana, Federal trumps States will when it pleases.
Sorry to rant...
big grin
