the above link has video of every single presidential candidate's position on medical cannabis.
I think these statements of position are very 'tip of the iceberg' for the entire campaigns.
For instance you have Mitt Romney saying cannabis is a gateway drug, despite numerous research studies proving otherwise. Which makes me wonder, what other facts has he screwed up on?
Then you have Huckabee saying he just doesn't care, its not an important issue to him. Thats a very 'let them eat cake' position, isn't it? Gives you a window into his sense of compassion.
Guliani and Clinton basically hide behind the FDA. I have to go to the bathroom right now, Mr Guliani, should I submit my bathroom request to a team of federal scientists for approval?
Obama thinks it would be a waste of resources to prosecute medical cannabis patients. But he says so quickly and quietly, and doesn't want to talk about it for very long. Ashamed of being right, Mr Obama? Don't think the American public can grok it? |

I'm voting for RP in the primaries but Barack's got my vote in the fall.
I don't think he's necessarily afraid of the issue. When I read his book back in '06 I remember reading about him smoking pot and implying he did coke. He's trying to guard against that being used against him in the election. He's our best chance for sensible drug policy this November. |

A sensible drug policy, maybe.
Health care, Socialized health care = Bad
Economy, Never liked his idea's on the economy.
Immigration, Maybe (more on this below)
The War, Indeed he wants to bring the troops home, but when?
Foreign Policy, Well I just flat out hate his.
In the immigration reform bill they have a requirement that people need to learn english. Frankly I think this is wrong, why does a person need to learn english? Do we have an official national language? The short answer is no we do not. Indeed speaking english would help a person wishing to become a citizen, but I don't think it's needed. Do we forget that we are a melting pot, why must we force people to adapt to what we assume is the best way? I also don't like the amendment that an American worker should have a higher priority over a guest worker. If a person is in the country legally, they should have the same protections as other workers. Giving priority to either is pure discrimination, it can also be abused by bigots. |

I agree completely. The xenophobia and racism present in today's USA is scary. I personally work and interact daily with illegal immigrants, many of whom do not speak English, and I am disgusted by our government's refusal to award them the rights afforded to me as a natural born citizen. They are hard-working, good people, and the immigration policy enacted in 1924 and since has completely fucked our country out of what made it so great in the first place.
And of course I can't support socialized health care with a straight face, and yes his economic plans are no good, but I still think Obama is the best choice in the general election this fall. |

He's not Islamic, But we seem to keep hearing about it. Really I'm just sick of hearing about it, it's just plain fear mongering. If I remember correctly Obama is a Christian, and has been for a long time. |

| The political situation in the US is until the populace demands change is screwed. RP, BO, HC, or anyone on the other side are just going to represent another head of the self serving US govt dragon. Most present a slightly different opinion, or one which beyond a few sensible ideas deviates to the unknown. Until the majority is ready to dump the cart over there will be no change whatsoever. |
