We all know the risk of mailing pot from place to place...but...what about buying pot seeds through the mail (I live in the USA and most seed companies are in Europe) How much risk is involved? How good is the post office in finding seeds in a package?

I think the largest concern for a person ordering seeds is being flagged as a grower if caught. I don't see evidence of the Feds getting too excited about a person receiving seeds. We all know from Marc Emery's case, they are interested in the selling of seeds.
To order seeds safely:
Use a public computer.
Use an untraceable gift credit card.
Use an address that cannot be tracked to you or your grow op. I detail this method in my new film, NeverGetRaided.

I bought some seeds from Amsterdam and they were hidden inside an ink pen. They would grow fast but when I tried to bloom them they would die. I've grown some with some Mexican seeds indoors and they do OK.

I wonder if your seeds were somehow sterilized in transit. Would Xray machines cause damage to seeds? |

my experience with beans, x-ray never affected the final product. be concerned of the beans getting crushed. seed companys are aware of post office employees crushing them, so they package the beans so they cant get wacked.

Vern, sounds like a nutrition or disease issue. Any reputable seedbank wants to provide the best plants. They want you to clone off a mother grown from their seeds, and be happy and come back. The mexican is likely a less sensitive, and more hearty plant than a genetically manipulated test tube baby. If the seeds sprouted the seedbank sent you good seeds, after that is up to you.

I don't know if this is still true, but my brother worked for the USPS for years and he would mail me weed all the time, well packaged of course. He said they didn't search or use dogs on mail that was being sent between US locations. It was mail coming in from outside the country that they subjected to routine dog sniffing.

I have known people to order seeds from Canada and get them with no problems.Just to add to what some have already said, along with using a money order/cash or gift credit card and a address that would not tie you to them.i would also say use a fake name if you choose to send them the money instead of paying on-line, which i wouldn't even do.The mailman will always deliver mail to an address even if the name is not familiar to him.I get other peoples mail all the time! lol
