I have been stopped many times (no seriously MANY TIMES) and along with being polite and turning the domelight on at night and all the other things that has been discussed as the right things to do(keep hands visible).I do one more thing to put the officers at "ease" I take my keys out and put them on the dash right in front of me on the edge behind the steering wheel. They WILL see this and it does change their demeaner. A relaxed officer is USUALLY a nice officer. This is a simple thing that I have used MANY times in my life...IT WORKS,,not 100% butI would easily give it 85-90%
on an unrelated note: if your one of those morons who like to call everyone "BOSS" stop it,,besides sounding like a complete moron,,,most people dont even have a clue where it originated and throw the term around like theyre some kind of cool dude or something. For those who dont know "HEY BOSS" is a term that originated in the prisons ,,,the inmates refer to the gaurds as BOSS,,You call a police officer BOSS you canset off a level of intensity that you probably dont even know you are aware of.What you are telling the cop is that you have been in the Pen,and they will handle you totally different..plus you sound like an idiot(my pet peeve
However if you want to set a cop off and you know your clean,,go for it,,call him Boss every other word and have fun with it.
Just Be warned,,,and aware. |

He is absolutely correct! Ive done a little time and you can tell a con (especially one fresh out the joint) by his gestures, mannerisms, and choices of slang. I am very aware of this and you would never know i had been locked up by talking to me. Unless i want you too. Same with the LEOs, act like a con and I guarantee they will treat you like one. Many doubt my criminal past because i can speak in other than monosyllables interspersed with "Fuck" and "Dawg".
I have had them change demeanor after running my name and finding I was on parole. Noticeable but not problematic as they have already formed a first impression. |

I too have been pulled over quite a few times but have not had a ticket in years.
As soon as I come to a stop, I turn off my car, put my hands on the steering wheel at the top of the wheel, roll down my window, and do nothing until the cop approaches.
After his "license and registration please", I ALWAYS ask if it is ok if I reach into my glove compartment (which i do slowly) and ask if it ok if I reach into my wallet (which I ALWAYS do slowly).
I never argue, I never do anything except yes and no and thank you.
One of the last times I got pulled over, my headlight had burned out not 1 minute earlier, I was exceeding the speed limit, and my tags had expired (I had the new tags in my glove but had not put them on the plates yet).
After the cop told me why he pulled me over (3 reasons), he went back to run my license, etc.
He came back and said ,"You were speeding, you have a missing headlight, and your tags are expired. How many tickets do you deserve tonight?"
I answered, "Three."
He said, "Wrong. None. Here is your license, slow down, put your tags on your plates, and get your headlight fixed."
I have a lot of stories like this, and in my experiences, polite and calm works wonders. And one big reason i would assume is that 80 percent of the folks the cops pull over are assholes. So, being nice and calm and polite is likely the exception.
My 02 cents. |

strangely i expected him to come and atleast halfass stick his head in my window but he didnt ,,matter of fact he seemed to make an effort to stay about 2 feet from the window,,what a nice guy,,guess he didnt care to smell my farts
I thanked him for his kindness,,I guess their not all bad right,,,,(ofcourse not) |

I live in a small town (<500) so we have one LEO that covers three towns. I was over at a friends house and noticed it was 9:50 the only store still open in town closes at 10. We are getting ready to smoke and so of course are in need of some snacks and some beers. On the way to the store I'm speeding a bit, 60 in a 50. I come around a corner and I see him sitting doing radar, and almost as soon as I see him his lights come on. At this point I'm just confused, cause he never pull's over locals. He pull's me and gives me a ticket for 62 in a 50, and some excuse about cracking down. Now here is the part that really pisses me off, I go into work on Monday and a girl that works with me is talking about how she came through town at 50 (speed limit is 35) and the cop just flashed his lights at her.
This prick gives me a ticket for 12 over, I was on an empty highway she's in the middle of town doing 15 over and he does nothing. I always knew he was a fucking idiot but I didn't know he was a prick also. So needless to say next time he pull's me over if he decides to I'm going to be as much of a total fucking prick that my rights will allow me to be.
I'm still going to treat the rest of the LEO's with respect but this little pig has lost that.
He's done other things also, like the fact he never pulls locals, but he'll be an out of state person for small infractions. |
