Seems to me like you guys are all in search of the holy grail, which in this board's case is defeating a K9's nose.

The most notable effort on here was Buck and his turkey bags he used with hunting dogs. Then a k9 officer came on here and discredited his claim saying his dogs found the drugs.

My question is whether A1K9 used the same quality bags as Buck among other variable factors.

I have some input on this subject that I'll discuss with you guys after I get some replies. I am 99.9% sure I have a full proof method (think hazardous materials)

that would either be glacial acetic acid, ammonia, formaldahyde sp?,, or ammonium bisulfite(which immediately takes away all oxygen)

not a bad thought

sorry for the double post but i just realized these are gonna make the dogs head jerk back n i think it was already covered SOMEWHERE that the trainers look for this and it would be an alert to the trainer,,so i dont think any hazardous substance will work unless im barking up the wrong tree,, smile

Nobody is addressing the idea Barry mentioned in the vid... Put in a package of food in a cooler in the trunk. Handler thinks the dog is interested in food, use the animal scents on your car tires, carry a cat in the car... etc.

EDIT: Guys I made a very long post describing my method that I am now editing to remove the information. After further thinking and research. I feel it is best to not make it public. My reasoning is that it will spread on the internet and get into hands of traffickers of harder drugs.

I am sure this works because after contacting the company I found out that the material transmits less than .0005cc of oxygen every 24 hours per 100sq inches and thats in 90% humidity. If done in multiple layers with a few other tricks I thought of, there is no vapor that is getting out of that bag.

I'm sorry for teasing you guys, but it is seriously something that I don't want the wrong people knowing. Hard drug traffickers I'm sure have their own methods that probably work, but I don't want to make it even easier on them.

Barry if you read this, please contact me if you'd like to test this out with a k9. I can send samples.

I disagree with your conclusion, even if it were to work as good as you proclaim and was used by criminals transporting harder drugs. Information deserves to be free, not letting information be free based on perceived ill is wrong. It is not our job to decided what is information needs to be released, all information should be publicly know, regardless of the information itself. A 100% open system is the only way to live, closed systems breed greed and evil.

Of course that's just my view, and I'm all for openness in everything, I think everything should be transparent. The only exception in my mind is what goes in in the privacy of your own home.

On another note the drug traffickers or not the problem, the problem is the government. In a free market that was not suppressed by an outside force (the government) the current problems we have would cease to be. The answer is less control not more.

I also think I know what materiel you are talking about. I did some preliminary research into some materials used in the medical industry, what you talk about sounds similar.

okay its official, these things WORK. a friend's dad is a police chief in a neighboring community and I had them try it with their k9.

I'm not sure where to go from here though. There is a lot of potential here.

I could have them printed to look like chip bags (the ones you get for like 35 cents) and have them sold at border stores and gas stations in canada to bring back some good BC bud safely. would have to market them as something legal though, dunno how that would work.

Well being a lover of a free and open market myself, Sell them. Do some more extensive tests, and if all works out start printing them up and selling them.

I need to see if they can make them in an 8" wide variety so they can be used with a foodsaver. I'm not sure if the heat it produces will be enough to get a good seal though. I guess you could hit the button to heat it again, and if that fails, use an iron.

I'm guessing you're talking about foil-mylar, used a lot now for food and computer chips, drinks and other liquids, advertising balloons, smoked-salmon, tea/coffee, tobacco etc. I have some at 13" wide, you need a vacuum sealer with a 15" sealbar; it is a big step up from any clear/non-foiled bags, and a vast step up from "baggies" which are permeable, convey a nasty plastic flavor, and even release hormone disruptors in your food of choice... IF you are referring to something different please, DO tell.. If interested in these send me a pm.

I am curious how the RE-sealable/zip versions of these work compared to a hot-sealed/air-evacuated bag though.

I made a post on another thread about a k9 sniffing these out, but I'll add some more input in a day or so. I hope other people chime in with my same observation, because I have a lot of knowledge in this field
