Your right Von! That would be hard to do actually. I would have to dig up some old speech of Nancy Reagans or some extreme fundamentalist church drivel about how it will make you masturbate and go to Hell or something. cool

thats bullshit !!!

for paraphanelia???

the 3 page essay alone would flip my ass,,F that and F them ,,lock my ass up!

so basically they want you to come up with some politically correct bullshit lies and put it in a 3 page essay,,nope!

i would do a 3 page essay on why it should be legalized,,but not why its bad for you,,screw that.

heres your letter to your parents

" I apologize for possibly upsetting you and maybe hurting you ,,but im gonna be going away for a while for standing up for my beliefs" smile

a man is only as strong as what he is willing to stand up for !

Thats funny.

--------------------------

the only downside i see for not standing up for yourself and your beliefs at this time is if you plan on going to college,,they may hold that against you and make it hard for you to get in,,some places do some dont.

thats crap man

Dude that's some fucked up shit, I would not write that paper. My friends had the same kind of thing happen only they got caught with marijuana + paraphernalia and lots of alcohol, all under age and driving under the influence.

They got

1.MIC (minor in consumption) - $300
2.MIP (minor in possession) - $300
3.120 community service hours

And there were no permanent charges put on the record.

There's no point of wishing you luck now, If you really wanted to stick up for yourself and not back down do what socrateez said, write a paper on why it is bad being illegal, use references to 1937 "Makes white women be with Negroes", the constitution being written in hemp, presidents having smoked it, alternative source for fuel, medicinal benefits.

This is a very tough spot to be in for a young person. Hell, it was tough for me and I'm a grammie. I too was arrested for possession of a small amount and paraphanalia and I agreed to plead guilty to the pipe, which carried a 30 day probation and 6 months no license, as opposed to small amount which was 6 months probation 30 days no license and the fine was the same 300.00 on each. I didn't want to have to look at a probation officer every month so I made my decision based on that.

Courts are using the essay punishment more and more so that the essays can then be used to spew more propaganda and the gov't can say - see, we told you!! Even cannabis users are speaking to you. Nobody sees that it is either write an essay or go to jail. They are led to believe that these essays were just spur of the moment revelations that these criminals felt compelled to share.

This war is taking us further and further into a dark abyss that we may not be able to recover from unless we get very tough and DEMAND it stop instead of begging for it to stop. I know it sounds easy and I clearly have no idea how to achieve that but there are 100 million people out there who are so much smarter than me and I am truly questioning why ending marijuana prohibition is so very difficult when we already have the blueprints that ended alcohol prohibition. We also had a chance to watch Dr. ML King end segregation, which was just as abusive to a segment of our population as is the War on Drugs abusive to a large group of our citizens.

WHY? and HOW?

Any Court forcing you to write a essay about something you are philosophically, ethically, and for some religiously opposed to the courts view, is tantamount to a coerced confession in my book.
I agree, forced confessions of the ills offered by MJ is just grist for the prohibitionist view.
Still, for most, it is a lie preferable to incarceration.

They sent me to Youth Court and in exchange for no conviction I have to do:

-40 hours community service
-A 3 page essay on the harmful effects of marijuana
-An apology letter to my parents
-A 4 hour drug and alcohol class
-An additional 8 week drug and counseling class, 2 hours/week. Parents required to come unless I wanna do a 16 week class.
-I must pass 3 drug tests

I have 3 months to complete all of this or I get kicked out of the program and go to "real" court. Also, if I get charged with something else before completing the program, I get kicked out and go to court for both charges.

I think I will have to go through something similar. I got caught with a gram of cannabis and a pipe a little more than a month ago. My lawyer could file a motion to suppress evidence as the search was a complete violation of my 4th amendment rights. However, this would cost an additional thousand dollars!

Down here in Florida it's called the 'PAY' (Diversion) Program, but I think I only have to take three classes. I'm not sure about the drug-testing yet.

Initially I resented getting caught, but having this happen to me has really given me a first-hand account of the outright absurdity of the punishment for cannabis-possession. It's also heightened my interest in US politics (Go Obama? question )
