| Say you catch a charge while you are enlisted in the military. How do prosecuters look at that in court and will that help me out at all when it comes to my punishment due to the fact im scheduled to leave shortly after my date? Sorry this isnt about drugs but i no all of you guys have an idea on the "judicial system" we all no and love. All i have is one charge of shoplifting a 30 dollar video game.If you guys have any suggestions to what i should say in court in order to keep this off my criminal record and still be eligable to leave for bootcamp please let me no. Sorry to stray away from the topic of the website but this was all becuase i was trying to support a drug habit that i have since taken care of. Dont be afraid to be honest with me!!! |

Best bet I could think of is to plead guilty to the charge. You might just get off with probation with the guilty plea but either way you might get discharged from the military.
The other guys are smarter about this stuff than I am but I do believe that would be the best course to go. And I hope all works out. |

| Ask your public defender if the record or charges can be deferred or expunged. Best bet for a clean record. |

If they have you dead to rights then go into court, plead guilty, apologize to the representative from the business that will be present, and then explain that you enlisted in the military and that you have no record and that you fear that this will prevent you from serving your country. Ask, as previously posted, for the charge to be deferred. That means that if you do not get into any trouble for whatever time the judge orders the charge will be dropped completely.
Also, as one who was in the military I should tell you that in general the military judicial system is harder on a person than the civilian systerm, so if you do go in make sure you keep yourself straight. |
