What options do officers have when you refuse consent?

They can walk a dog around your auto and get a true alert or cause the dog to false alert at which time your car will be searched.
They can do a weapons pat down of any area withing reach of the driver or passenger. This means they can check any location a weapon may be hidden and upon searching for a weapon, if they discover other contraband (marijuana) they can seize it and arrest you.
They can just go ahead and search illegally.
They can respect your right to refuse consent and let you leave...this rarely happens.
