"Smoked marijuana has not withstood the rigors of science -- it is not medicine and it is not safe," the DEA states on its Web site. "Legalization of marijuana, no matter how it begins, will come at the expense of our children and public safety. It will create dependency and treatment issues, and open the door to use of other drugs, impaired health, delinquent behavior, and drugged drivers."
your such Liars,,,and Scum.
and thats being nice!
I would say that your uneducated idiots. However, thats not the truth. You (DEA) do know the truth, and so do we, and so does the entire country!!
Now stop the bullshit! |

it wont be any different as it is today. the people who smoke would just be doing it legally rather than illegally.
i smoke and drive every single day. and it does not affect my driving at all. actually i drive better high.
then they could actually go after the DRUG dealers, i.e crack, heroin, meth. the stuff that really fucks people up.
DAMMIT I HATE STUPID PEOPLE! |

If people figured out how to get high off of poison ivy they'd ban it as soon as they could.
Look at salvia bans. "Oh no people are sitting around being happy and laughing!" Can't have that shit. |

Do you know where it is and isn't banned now? Shamans in African countries use it to heal, why ban it?

| Quote: | The United States
Louisiana, Missouri, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Delaware, Maine, North Dakota, Illinois, Kansas, Virginia, and Florida are the only states in the USA that currently have state-wide laws prohibiting possession of Salvia divinorum. The state of Maine only prohibits possession by minors. Possession remains legal for adults in Maine; however, it is illegal for adults to sell or transfer Salvia divinorum to anyone under 18 years of age. A similar law, prohibiting sales of Salvia divinorum to minors, will go into effect in California on January 1, 2009. Louisiana and Oklahoma have provisions in their laws that allow possession of the plant when it is not intended for human consumption. In Oklahoma, plain Salvia divinorum is legal, but extract-enhanced leaves are not (however, a new law goes into effect in Oklahoma on November 1, 2008, which will make all forms of Salvia divinorum illegal).A local law prohibits possession and sale of Salvia divinorum in Suffolk County, New York. A city ordinance, enacted in April 2008, prohibits the sale of Salvia divinorum in the town of West Bridgewater, Massachusetts. To the best of my knowledge, Salvia divinorum is entirely legal in all other states. However, law makers in several other states are currently considering legislative bills that seek to ban Salvia divinorum in those states (see below). |
You can read more about it and what the Feds and DEA are doing here:http://www.sagewisdom.org/legalstatus.html |

And get this from the same page if you didnt follow the link.
| Quote: | | On January 5, 2005 Representative Rachel L. Bringer introduced House Bill 165 to the Missouri State legislature. This bill sought to add Salvia divinorum to that state’s list of Schedule I controlled substances. Curiously, the bill only mentioned Salvia divinorum, it did not mention salvinorin A. This oversight was corrected the following month with the introduction of House Bill 633, which sought to place both Salvia divinorum and salvinorin A in Schedule I. The bill also proposed to add 12 other substances to Missouri’s list of controlled substances. This second bill was introduced on February 23, 2005 by Representative Scott A. Lipke (R) and Representative Bringer. On August 28, 2005, the bill was incorporated into section 195.017 of the state’s drug regulation statutes. Thus, Salvia divinorum and salvinorin A became Schedule I substances in the state of Missouri. For documentation, go here. | WTF? 12 other schedule one substances? Better hurry up and add chamomile to the list or maybe nutmeg. Pisses me off. |

| Not to kick up an old topic, but I am new and have been reading through the boards. I was disgusted after reading about the Missouri representative seeking to add 12 other substances to the schedule I listings. This is getting out of hand. I have only tried Salvia divinorum once and did not care for it, but I have yet to hear of harm coming to someone due to it's influence or any crimes whose cause is related to someone using salvia. This parallels my feelings of marijuana use. I treat pot the same way I treat alchohol. I due not drive after smoking. I have in the past and I felt much safer under it's influence than the few times I have made the wrong decision to get behind the wheel of a car after a few drinks. I don't smoke before I go to work. As I am sure the rest of you are, I am a responsible marijuana user. It is just sad that I can go to the gas station and buy a pack of Marlboros, smoke them, knowing that it will eventually lead to health problems, and as long as I don't throw the butt on the ground in front of a cop, no one cares. However, if I enjoy a nice bong rip, cooled with grape kool aid and some ice, hold my breath as long as I can and slowly exhale in the privacy of my own home, letting all my cares and worries leave my body with said bong rip, I am a criminal. Well you know what? It's my body! I should be able to do what I want as long as I am not hurting anyone else. The government doesn't mind the tax money they are getting when I drop 5 bucks on a pack of smokes, why can't I just have a little peace. Ah well. I know everyone has heard it all before. I just had to get it out. Thanks for listening! |

No Problem. Threads like this should be brought up often. Keep digging and not just here either. Our Freedoms are being stripped piece by piece by Legislation such as that above. |
