Almost 42 and People everywhere always think I am close to ten years younger than I really am. I have decent genetics but no fountain of youth! I personally believe this: "You are only as old as people think you are".
So why do I appear "young" to people and why do I meet so many young-old people who consume?
To play Devils Advocate a bit:
It could be argued that I am simply displaying a lack of development, immaturity. I'm no stranger to the theory that MJ may cause emotional or psychological dependence. So that means I think, feel, decide, much like a person of considerably less years. Never grew up.
Now that out of the way, here's the way my 15 in a 40 year old self sees things.
First off, animal intellect and ability to acquire new information and institute behavioral change is directly related to the length of adolescence. Most species have a increasing difficult time learning new things after reaching adulthood. Humans have one of the longest childhoods of any mammal.
Most consumers of MJ would agree that it makes you connect sense and experience in novel ways. The world as if you were looking at it with the same wonder a child has. As adults we hold as true and known that which is established and inflexible. The older most get, this becomes more so. Which leads me to another saying:
"You cant teach an old dog new tricks; only because he is unwilling".
Cannabis makes you willing again or at least receptive. It broadens that which has become narrow.
Ultimately this is why I believe Cannabis users are more receptive to change or at least ignore things like generational, racial, and social barriers. These are hallmarks of youth. Change.
Youngsters i meet think I'm the youngest because I show less resistance to their thoughts and ideas than someone of my vintage otherwise would. My mind has remained malleable over the years. It hasn't hardened and set like epoxy.
I see people who are like that epoxy, their thoughts can no longer be shaped but are set in the shape first impressed when young adults. They have become old.
So, does Cannabis keep you young? |

It must be keeping me young, I was a teenager only several years ago !
Actually I have found for the most part that my life intertwines pretty easily with my kids' life and their friends. I kinda like that as it help me to understand this "new generation" I don't really enjoy people my own age as much anymore as they are consumed with things that mean little to me. Aches, pains, meds, Social Security, retirement and so on. I prefer living in a younger world that has more life in it. I don't always want to be socializing with my kids' friends, I can just enjoy the time I spend with them and not feel so out of touch with their ways of doing things.
So I guess all that rambling makes my answer yes !

| I'd like to think weed helps me gain experience/knowledge. Most of the stoners I hang out with are mature and smart and they look young but there 20+. |

Most of the people that see me work, for a day or two,put me at 30. I work ALOT harder than just about any 20ish,and harder than that if stoned they tend to look shocked that I am 41 and looked even more shocked when I tell them I have 2 grand sons
Smoked every year,for 30 years |

I am still young compared to you veterans of life One thing as a teen that cannabis did for me was make me mature.
As a teen i ditched classes didnt listen to authority and all the other things that come along with that. Once i started smoking more i turned my life totally around, i began making straight A's in school and looking forward to college.
Not only in school but the way i handled money also changed. I started saving half of all the money i earned in case i ever need it for perhaps college or whatever.
It made me mature much faster than many of my friends and many of them did not understand why i was doing what i did.
But at the same time it helped me enjoy life like a kid would.
It has also made me yearn for knowledge so i actually began reading books voluntarily for the first time in my life.
It has given me the best of both worlds being mature but young. Not to mature to become close minded and sour, but not so young to live a total care free life with a who cares attitude. |

i've always been tall so when i was younger i always looked older. now that i'm older everyone thinks i'm younger than i actualy am.
"A pack a day to get me by, an ounce of weed to keep me high
Alochol still numbs the pain, some things in life just never change
I don't know but i've been told, you live this way you won't grow old
Our addiction hits so quick, these bad habits are hard to quit" |

Telomeres are regions of repetitive DNA at the ends of chromosomes. Telomeres have been directly linked to to life-span in humans. The longer the telomeres, the longer you live. Stress deteriorates telomeres, making life-span shorter.
Cannabis reduces stress, thereby keeping telomeres in good shape. If someone smokes a lot of cannabis, or otherwise lives a stress-free life, he or she will live longer.
There was an episode on Oprah about telomeres recently.
So yes, I think Cannabis-consumption keeps you young. |

I just had a thought:
We get Oprah to back the legalization/decriminalization of marijuana by professing its fountain of youth characteristics. Shit, if she got behind us we'd be set. Imagine if she gave everyone a roor bong for one of her shows? 10 grams of kush per person! Whoo!
I have no idea if that makes sense or not. I'm baked! Now back to what I was toking on... |
