My group of friends has had an uptick in undercover narcos stopping by their residences, (each person once, unnanounced) stating that someone had anonymously called crime stoppers reporting suspected pot dealing at their residence. In one case my friends opened just a crack and asked who it was(undercover) and he started saying something to sound like a door to door salesman. So my friend opened door a little more and narco saw a piece in plain sight, and it ended badly. Another friend has doors always locked, so when narco/crimestoppers came by he exited and relocked from rear entrance and went around front to deal with cops, nothing happened to him.

Any tips with dealing with narcos who stop by on crimestoppers tips? Got any solid excuses to go with(ie angry ex vowing revenge or someone needs money)
I imagine a lot of narcos could use the crimestoppers tip line as justification for a phishing expedition. Any thoughts on proving or calling them out on this? |

I recommend TO NEVER OPEN THE DOOR TO POLICE OR STRANGERS!!! If the cops had a legal right to be in your house, they would have kicked the door in with a warrant! Their knocking tells you they do not have a warrant unless they advise of a warrant then have them slide it under the door. If the warrant is real, open the door. Otherwise yell at the cops through the door or nearby window explaining they need to call your phone or have the dispatcher call your phone! You are under no obligation to let them in your house. I would not even go outside and lock the door behind me as taught over the years.
Your excuse for a Crimestopper's tip? "Crimestopper's tips are unreliable or you would have a warrant. Please leave now!" |
