So I'm 27 and I'm the asst. Manager for Sears I have been there for 7 years started out during Christmas as a cashier and worked my way up since. I'll tell you during those years I have seen so many people fired or drugged tested for stupid reason. Today I had to sit in with the store manager fired a 16 year old who was a cashier who was talking about how he smokes weed and how to pass the drug test and cheated. The kid said That he said it but that he was sorry. Then he started to cry and say" please don't fire me I need this job." He was still let go beacause of our no drug policy I was sitting there listing and just thinking. It’s sad that we can’t talk about what we go through a everyday day. I just wanted to stand up and say "hey leave this kid alone he made a mistake that dose not make him a bad person" but I know that if my store manager knew I smoke weed first I would be drug tested and fired second
When it comes to drugs Retail Company don't put with it. They say it’s bad for business
Have a drug addict run a store. There have been so many times where I wanted to speak up at work and share my views but I kept my head down. I hate going outside and seeing everyone smoking having there smoke breaks wishing I could join them But they wouldn't understand they would call me a junkie. My best friend was a store manager for a different location same company but he got fired when someone called corporate on him saying that he got high with his employees witch was true.
So I have learned over the years to clock in, do my job, and leave and keep your mouth shut. So how many you have jobs and wished that you just could take a smoke break and not get in trouble. Tell your Manager Dam I'm tired because last night I just got really really high man and not get fired. I feel like I have 2 life One is work since I'm the asst manager I get to hang out with upper management who does not know that I get high for my job sake. . The other life is the people I smoke with the ones that I watch movies with and talk about all the crazy shit that I go through why we can’t just be open about it and not fear getting in trouble. I smoke when I wake up, on lunch after work and night time. My job has never been affected by my smoking habits. I run my meeting high I love interviewing people high lol . |

well one day, when you work yourself to store manager, you will be able to cut a stoner a break. Could you with a clear conscious, fire somebody for partaking ?.......IMHO drug testing is a direct violation of our 4th amendment rights. The company I work for does randoms,I knew this when I got hired.from the get go I told my suprevisor,I was a stoner/pot head, one day I might lose my job over, what to me is My beer in the evening,as I don't drink or do anything other than cannabis.that sucks, but I know one day it very well might come to that.....My boss is fine with knowledge that I smoke,as when I am at work,I am one of his best employees,He is not the one doing the Randoms,as you said it comes from the top. |

| I deliver pizzas. I don't however deliver in the city more rural country and amish towns. That means there are deliveries that are 10 miles there and back and it only takes one road. Out in the Boondocks i love being able to take a really long drive and enjoy a joint. I have had many jobs that i have been fired from. Most recentley I worked at a titanium plant and the movable hoist that was attached to the cieling fell and hit me in the back of the neck and head. this was never inspected for safety in 20 years. I was taken to hospital and given a drug screen. I failed and was fired. They did pick up all the bills. They knew that they were in the wrong. I could have went throguh with a lwayer and was told i would get a large settlement. At the time I was poor though there was no way I could pay for him. Even though they were in the wrong. I had been seriously hurt, then fired, just for smoking pot. The floor boss. then proceeded to tell me how i was nothing and that I was a waste of space. THis was coming from a so called recovered addict. What has the world come to. |

if a hoist fell and hit you on the head and neck and caused severe injury, dude even though they paid the bills, they fired you for failing the drug test, not for the hoist falling. you could have been compensated big time $$$$$$ you should have hired a lawer and he could have taken his 30 or 40 % out your settlement. anyway just my opinion.

phxsuns,,,do them ALL a favor,,n as the assistant boss man make sure they KNOW that ALL drug talk is absolutely NOT tolerated..no hints no jokes no acting like theyre doin it ,,NOTHING,,, then u can say you warned them and free your conscience ,, that way if they are stupid enough and become idiots as some idiots do,,you can shrug ur shoulders with ease and say ,,hey i warned you dumbass,,see ya later
i am in a different environment,,everyone knows IF IT WAS LEGAL i would be doing it tomorrow,, however the urinator allows me to do it anyway and keep the lifestyle i enjoy,,but i wonder often for how long that will last. ive done made up my mind though,,once they start watching me piss,,i wont be pissing,,simple as that |

Good advice Mr. C. You don't necessarily have to put your ass out on a limb to look out for your fellow tokers.
Mr.C, I agree 100% about being watched while pissing. |

I have lived the double life you all are talking about for about six years now. I have been one of the most valued employees in my company for the entire time. Not even my parents know I have smoke weed since I was 17. I keep it to evenings during the week and pretty much anytime on the weekends. No one I have worked with has any idea I smoke weed. I do not talk about, joke about it, etc. It has even stopped me from dating co-workers because I cannot expose my home life to them for fear of someone spilling the beans or using it as a way to get even for something that might happen in the future.
So now that you know that about me, I have to ask you all a question. One that I have not answered myself yet. Is this all worth it? I love weed, but I hate the double life. I hate that I cant just hang out with anyone, anytime, because they could rat me out or tell the wrong person what they saw me doing.
How do you all live your lives around you secret? Is there a better way that is still as safe? Or if the double life is something that bothers me, should I give up the weed? Any insight into my problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you |

My approach to the "double life",is to be open,if you know me, you know my views.I have not gotten a few jobs through the years, when asked my view of drug use.I am not going to "blow smoke up thier ass,I am going to explain my views..........Hell,when my Navy recruiter asked me if I smoked marijuana,I told him YES. He asked me when the last time I smoked, and I told him it was on my way to talk to him. He says when? 2 years ago? I said yea something like that. |

| My boss knows I fake drug test and everyone that knows me, knows that I get high. I can't really call it a double life. |

At times it has been a double life. Now I prefer to be around others who are open about it and that I dont have to hide from.
Work can be an issue still, but I do the best I can to find a balance. Past history has shown me better a double life than without it. Either way has its pros and cons.
I'll work yet again in a "don't ask don't tell" environment. I don't care what i'll make because I know I'll be able to toke with much less anxiety. Live freer. |
