When I was about 10, my mom realized that some of my sister's ADHD pills were missing. Her immediate reaction was to believe that my brother and/or I had stolen them to sell at school.
Obviously that is ridiculous and is completely untrue. I think my sister was throwing some of the pills away in order to avoid having to take them because they took the energy out of her. Fatigue is a side effect of quite a few drugs used for psychological problems, actually, and marijuana can help with those problems without those side effects. In any case, the government had brainwashed my mother to be afraid to the point of paranoia of her children getting on drugs or selling them. It was also clearly facilitated by my mother's predisposition to paranoia regarding drugs, but that is irrelevant compared to the actual problem: It is the government's irrationalization of the war on drugs that caused the fear that led to her reaction. Marijuana has become a victim of this senseless technique as well, which causes widespread misunderstanding of marijuana, and all drugs. They should be treated as a health crisis and not as a crime, and sometimes (in the case of marijuana, where there are no negative health side effects) not as a crisis at all.
Anyway, she took us to the local police station and had us interrogated by police officers for probably around an hour. During that time I learned several things about police officers:
1) They will do anything that is within the laws that could lead to narcotics arrests. I was ten! How could I possibly be dealing drugs? Yet I was interrogated like a criminal because one person testified that I had somehting to do with drugs.
2) They repeat random shit. In response to the question, "Well, then what do you think happened to the pills?" I said, "I don't know." Then they nod like they know what's going on in your head and say, "You don't know."
3) They think they know whether you are guilty or not (usually the former) before they have any evidence whatsoever. That or they just want you to be guilty because it helps them reach their quota. When we left having given no further information, the police were still telling my mother that we probably had the drugs hidden somewhere or had sold them, all based on the fact that my brother cried during the interview. Come on! What do you expect two little kids to do, hire a lawyer? I should have asked for one, the bastards.
4) They're desperate for making narcotics arrests. Why else would they not have the common sense to see that it was just a woman paranoid from the effects of the war on drugs? They must either be brainwashed themselves, and therefore just as paranoid, or they are trying to make it look as if the war on drugs is being more successful. I haven't been intoxicated under the influence of any drug in my entire life. That year I had straight A's for every @*#^ class. There was no reason to believe I was dealing. Their efforts only proved to me that law enforcement is contributing to a completely unnecessary paranoia that feeds itself with its victims. People become more paranoid; they cry out for reform; law enforcement "cracks down"; people become more paranoid when they see how unsignificant it is. There is one way to stop the cycle.
I could go on, but I think people will be occupied with this post for long enough.
Save America's youth; save them from jail, persecution, being separated form their families, and from the ridiculous fear that is tearing our nation apart.
Legalize marijuana. |

| She didn't do it to me; the police did. The government that made her believe that drugs were bringing the downfall of our nation and our youth did. I blame nothing on her because she had also recently experienced the death of my father and was very quick to try to protect her children. She thought she was doing what was best, and actually believed, because of the propoganda, that young kids would be dealing drugs! Like I said, her personality and decisions obviously led to the encounter, but it was the misinformation of our government that led both my mother to do this and the police to take the situation seriously. |

That is a pretty traumatic experience for a child to go through.

Dude, the only people that are more paranoid than pot heads are policemen.. I've come to realize this.
We had drug dogs come in periodically at my elementary school some 18 years or so ago. |

| I see the signature, and it looks good. By the way my Mom was the same way. When she found a joint for the first time she called our Pastor to come talk to me. He was the one that actually talked her out of calling the cops. I have a clean record thanks to that guy. I did give him alot of shit at the time though. He took my weed with him. HAHA! For a little late night "devotional" I'm sure. |
