As we all know, airport security is something we all encounter from time to time, as well as border security.
This thread I would like to discuss new technologies encountered in airports and at border crossings and WHERE (ie, in what airports) one will encounter such technology.
2 new gadgets specifically that are of concern to me are x ray like machines that scan your whole body, leaving the security personal to see EVERYTHING under your clothes as well as potentially within your body (within? I don't know if its true but its possible). If you have seen the pictures of what it can do, you would see that this technology basically strips you naked, leaving security to see your naked form in its scan.
The other gadget of concern is a metal detector like device you walk through that blows air on your clothing, which discharges microscopic particles off of your clothes/body, sucks them up, and analyses these particles on the spot, trying to detect even minute quantities of drugs (and just like the x ray machine, it definitely works).
I can only wonder what other kinds of technology they have developed and use, and where they use them (as not all airports use this expensive technology, but certainly larger airports may).
My main thought is that in this thread people should post and describe what kinds of technology they are using (even old technology) in which cities and at which airports.
For example, if JFK airport has this new x ray technology, someone who knows this and has encountered it can make a post and let everyone else know so as to keep that knowledge in mind ahead of time before travel. Or if they just use dogs and x ray machines post that too. Ideally we can get a good network of information going.
With this information I hope all will be able to travel more safely, informing people of the dangers of traveling with stashed drugs through airports and also just of having drug particles on their person when traveling through airports. I say this reminded of people who have been arrested in airports in Abu Daubi with amounts of cannabis that are so small they are not even visible to the naked eye (yet the person caught faces a 2 year minimum in prison for such an amount of contraband).
I am less aware of border security. I have heard of invisible fences along vast stretches of land (such as between the USA and Canada) that set up an invisible screen able to detect people trying to cross the border. Perhaps their signal can be thwarted by crawling under them or something. I don't know, but that is why this thread is here to get the discussion going on these new kinds of technology (as well as old methods police use that aren't as well known). |
