| Narcdet, you touched on this in another post. When you worked on the crashes were there alot of accidents casued by smoking alone. If so were they fatal. |

| Well smoking cannabis does not impair you to the same degree as alcohol. Indeed study's have suggested that people that smoke and drive tend to be more aware of what is going on, they tend to slow down and pay attention. Still if you smoke pleade don't drive, simply as that. |

The majority of the ones that I worked that happened due to impairment were alcohol related, although many times I had reason to believe alcohol and marijuana had both been used. A handful of the ones I worked were due to impairment by marijuana alone, but to be honest the drivers were totally baked!
As a side not, one time I pulled over a taxi driver who ran a red light because he was rolling a joint. Turns out the guy's driver's license had been suspended 5 previous times and he was still on suspension! That should make you feel safe next time you take a taxi..lol
I would like to see the studies that show that smoking and driving are a good mix. I have a difficult time believing that as I think that anything that alters your perception is not a good mix with driving. |

Ive been a life long smoker and havent had any more accidents or tickets than the next guy. In fact, The one accident I was in that I was high, wasnt my fault. I do believe if your baked you shouldnt drive. Which brings me to one of the effects common in pot smokers. Namely: The "higher" they get, the less likely they are to do something dangerous or risky. Over cautious would be apt in most cases. Its sort of self-inhibitory. How many pothead dare devels are there?
I take greater risks straight than I would consider while smoking. |

Well your never going to see any study's that say that, smoking and driving is not a good mix. But if you are referring to my post, I never claimed it was a good idea. So here is a little information on the effect of cannabis on driving ability.

Now I'm not perfect, hell nobody is perfect. I have no problem admitting that I have driven under the influence of cannabis. Since I moved in with my father, till next year, I smoke on my way home from work. During the summer I won't be doing this, I'd rather go on a nice hike and smoke a joint. |

| I've had to drive home stoned a few times. i prefer not to but sometimes it can't be helped. i have noticed that as mentioned i do tend to focus more and slow down. having a radar detector also helps calm my nerves while driving. |

I think it all depends on the amount you smoke. Like i personally take one or 2 hits to focues on home work, which if i smoked a whole joint i would be way to baked to even think.
When you smoke 5 bowls of hash dont drive home. And only drive if you HAVE to and are totally obligated to do so when you smoke any. |

I put in 750,000 miles as a trucker. The only accident I was ever involved in was in very inclement weather, and involved me rolling my truck into the ditch to avoid hitting a school bus in the middle of the road. At that time I was driving log trucks, and always very stoned. I often did tricky maneuvers, or calculated load balance while very high. I've also violated every standard safety law while very high; way overloaded trailers (affects braking and other handling, I often broke speed laws (pulled over once 127 in a 75), and I would drive WAAAYYY over my available logbook hours. I would only put the pipe down after 36 to 48 hours of nonstop driving, by then I was on another high just out of sleep deprivation. Smoke it up heavy again just before bed. My point is that in my opinion, a person can smoke and drive. Those who get overbaked and crash are either newbs, or they have some diminished mental capacity that further effects judgement. Handling 80,000 to 105,500 of truck at freeway speeds is the equivalent of guiding a ballistic missile that can do a lot of damage.
I am now working on a degree in engineering, all of my difficult classes are taken while baked, 3.14 gpa??? |

| i'll admit i failed in most classes, but it was due to the fact i hated homework. i would pay attention in class and do great on tests, with the exception of math because i've always been numericly dislexic. |

Me Too! Except for the dyslexia.
I'm just one of those introverted people who are really macgyver type smart, but suck at life in the mainstream way of things. Pot has really helped me socialize more than I ever would without. |
